The Wisconsin Department of Tourism has welcomed the Door County Visitor Bureau as a certified member of the Travel Green Wisconsin program. The initiative furthers Wisconsin’s commitment to sustainability. The local tourism agency, based in Sturgeon Bay, received its certification, in part, by implementing greener practices such as using soy ink to print nearly a quarter million visitor guides each year. The visitor bureau also spearheaded an effort to create a network of electric vehicle charging stations throughout Door County last year, installing two electric vehicle charging stations at the Door County Visitor Center. In addition, Focus on Energy audits are conducted on a regular basis and supplies that are environmentally and socially responsible are being utilized. The Door County Visitor Bureau joins more than 545 Travel Green Wisconsin certified businesses, including 55 in Door County.
