Door County Board of Supervisors agreed to the idea of the county acquiring the former Younkers store outlet on north 4th avenue in Sturgeon Bay. The vote was unanimous. The purchase of the building, and the property it sits on, is about $505,000. The plan is to turn the facility into an addition its next door neighbor, the Door County Historical Museum. The space would provide room for archive material and other purposes. County Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas said some “loose ends” had to be attended to before the sale is a done deal and funds will have to be transferred to a special account. In addition, an evaluation of the building will determine what needs to be done to meet current and future needs.
