Door County MERT Team to Conduct Training

The Door County Missing and Endangered Response Team, sometimes called the “MERT” team, provides a formalized, cooperative response in an effort to quickly assemble and coordinate necessary resources in the investigation of abductions or critical missing person cases. On Wednesday, this team will be conducting a training exercise in the woods and trail system at Sturgeon Bay’s Crossroads at Big Creek from 5-7PM. Door County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brad Shortreed says this is their first such training exercise and he shares which local agencies will be taking part…

This training will focus on decision-making, coordination and integration with other organizations as it better prepares the team for a real-life event. Crossroads will still be open to the public at this time, but if you were planning on walking the trails between 5 and 7PM Wednesday, they are asking you to maybe choose a different location for your evening walk during that time.
