Saturday afternoon, shortly after 2:30, the Door County Sheriff’s Office was called for an incident at Cave Point County Park. It was reported that a 35 year-old male was swimming in Lake Michigan and while climbing out of the water he collapsed and fell back into the lake. Numerous bystanders then helped pull him from the water and attempted to revive the man. Emergency response soon arrived, which included the Sturgeon Bay and Jacksonport fire departments, Door County EMS, and the Door County Sheriff’s Department. Medical rescue efforts continued and the man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. At this time, no other information is available as the incident remains under investigation. Until the victim’s next-of-kin is notified, his name is not being released.
