DCVB Selects CTA Award Winner

The Door County Visitor Bureau selected a northern Door County businessman to bestow its 2015 Certified Tourism Ambassador award on during a special travel and tourism week luncheon Tuesday in Sturgeon Bay. The award went to Paul Thacker, owner of the Baileys Harbor Campground. The CTA’s, as they are commonly referred to, have gone through a program provides training intended to help individuals engage in the kind of contact with visitors that enhances the Door County experience. Since the program began locally in 2009, more than 700 local workers and volunteers have become certified tourism ambassadors. Each year, the “best of the best” is selected to receive the “star” award, symbolizing someone who has gone above and beyond to achieve a personal connection with their guests, has remained current on upcoming events countywide, and has experienced all that Door County has to offer in order to share that knowledge with others.
