DCEDC Launches Live Door County to Attract Workers

An aging local population and the loss of younger natives to other parts of the country has led to county employers having difficulty filling jobs. Enter the Door County Economic Development Corporation and a plan to attract
prospective workers to the peninsula by providing a variety of services for those interested in settling here. A new website, LiveDoorCounty.org was Launched during a special event Tuesday morning in Sturgeon Bay.
The assembled, which included local business leaders and government officials heard from Kelsey Fox, the Economic Development Corporation’s Workforce Development Specialist. Fox noted that several hundred jobs throughout the peninsula are going begging and the new site can be an option that will attract people at a time when they’re considering an employment change. At the same time, it aims to be attractive for Door County’s younger residents as a tool to find worthwhile employment locally. Those who access the site will learn more about Door County than just job opportunities. They will also learn about local quality of life issues like housing, schools and community wide activities. The idea is to attract visitors who decide to stay.
