Concerns about the appearance of heroin in rural areas of Wisconsin has prompted the Wisconsin Department of Justice to invite Door County to participate in a program intended to focus time and resources on the problem of heroin and opiates. A two-year collaborative project is underway that will provide the Door County Drug Task Force up to $7,200 per year in grant funding for reimbursement of overtime hours spent on conducting heroin and opiate investigations. The Door County Board is expected to sign off on the grant funding during its regular meeting on Tuesday. The grant funding comes from the federal 2015 COPS Office Anti-Heroin Task Force program.
