County Board Votes in Favor of Ambulance Garage in Brussels

The Door County Board voted in support of a recommendation calling for the investment of $800,000 for the construction of a south ambulance garage in the Town of Brussels during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday. The unanimous vote authorized the transfer of the funding from a contingency account, but County Administrator Ken Pabich indicated that the action was procedural in nature while a determination is made if the funding should be a part of the borrowing needed to rehabilitate the former highway shop in Sturgeon Bay for use as an ambulance garage and senior center. The presence of a Door County ambulance within the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department coverage area was a key element in the effort to persuade a majority of residents in the three towns to support a $2.8 million makeover for BUG Fire Department facilities.
