County Board Discusses Search for New Administrator

The process for finding a new Door County Administrator was discussed during the meeting of the Door County Board Tuesday. The position opened up when Maureen Murphy left in November after two years on the job. In the meantime, Door County Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas is acting as interim administrator, a position he agreed to take on for the second time last year. Charlie Carlson of Carlson-Dettman Consultants of Madison focused his remarks on the process of finding a highly qualified candidate for the job. The county board’s administrative committee will be actively involved in the recruitment and selection process, but it appears that other input will be sought. It also appears that it may take a little longer than anticipated for the process to play out. Door County has had a County Administrator since 1999. Prior to that, then County Clerk Nancy Bemmann was Administrative Coordinator.
