Council Members Weigh in on Possible Street Closures

During Tuesday’s Sturgeon Bay City Council meeting on a proposed street vacation plan, each council-member was given time to discuss the matter. Some had questions, others made statements. First District Alderperson Kelly Catarozoli said she was caught between a desire to help a local industry and the opinions of some of her constituents…

She suggested more meetings to provide an open dialogue between the city, Bay Shipbuilding and taxpayers. Alderman Jerry Stults pointed out that many cities in the region would love to have an outstanding company like Bay Ship in their midst…

After the meeting was concluded, there was the sense that the city and shipyard would continue to talk, that some sort of agreement would be arrived at, and that eventually the expansion plan would become a reality.
