Council Approves Right of Way Encroachment for Shipyard Fence

A request from Bay Shipbuilding for an encroachment into the street right-of-way of Jefferson Street for the security fence surrounding the former Palmer Johnson property was approved as presented during the special meeting of the Sturgeon Bay City Council Monday. Marty Olejniczak, Sturgeon Bay Community Development Director, says the minor change would allow the shipyard to include a storage site as part of its fenced-in area…

Olejniczak says the request can be met by utilizing a “privilege in the street”…

The request was approved with four conditions, some of which have already been dealt with. The Fincantieri Marine Group is in the process of acquiring land behind the Bellin Health building and will work with Bellin to provide an exit outside the proposed fence line.
