The Sturgeon Bay City Council has given the go-ahead to the administration to exercise a legal option with regard to the dirt piles on the west side waterfront near the Door County Maritime Museum. During its meeting Tuesday evening, the council was told that Bayland Buildings had responded to a notice from the city and indicated that it had no interest in the dirt piles. Another notice was sent to developer Bob Papke and the Sawyer Hotel Group. The next step in the process is to file a motion in Door County Circuit Court to obtain an order and the court’s permission to take possession of the dirt and have it removed from the property. The council has gone on record to do that.
