The 13th annual Chop and Shop With a Cop will be held in Door County on December 12th and the event’s organizers are asking for donations to meet the 2015 fundraising goal. Any donation will be appreciated. The Joint Professional Law Enforcement Officers Association was established in 2003 and believes that children are our future and providing them with with positive interaction with law enforcement at a young age is a win-win situation for the children, community and law enforcement. The Chop and Shop With a Cop program pairs children with a law enforcement officer for the day and includes a trip to a local tree farm, shopping at Target, and, a gift wrapping Christmas party. The families are also given a turkey and all of the fixings they need to have a healthy holiday family dinner. If you’re interested in donating to Chop and Shop With a Cop, mail a check to the Door County Sheriff’s Department in care of Lieutenant Tammy Sternard at 1203 South Duluth Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. Checks may be made out to Joint Professional Law Enforcement of Door County or JPLA.
