Cherryland Airport to Get Runway Upgrade

Just under $1.7 million has been approved for a runway reconstruction project at the Door County Cherryland Airport near Sturgeon Bay. The funds will cover the costs for plans, designs and an upgrade to the airport’s secondary runway. The funding breakdown includes $84,662 from the State of Wisconsin, a similar amount provided by Door County, and, just under $1,524,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration, for a total of $1,693,230. Work is scheduled to begin in May and should be completed in July of this year. Daily airport operations are not expected to be disrupted while work is underway. The Door County Cherryland Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin state airport system plan, making it eligible for state and federal funding.
