The City of Sturgeon Bay has its first announced mayoral candidate. In a news release issued Tuesday, Laurel Brooks said she is running for mayor because she believes she can do a better job. A member of the Sturgeon Bay City Plan Commission for nine years, the 64 year old Brooks says a cooperative atmosphere is needed in city government where new ideas can be generated and conflict minimized. She is married to Sturgeon Bay Attorney Victor Brooks. Candidates for office can begin circulating nomination papers on December 1st. The spring election will be held on April 5th.
