Bridge Work May Lead to Limited Boat Access

In anticipation of rehab work planned for the Bayview Bridge in Sturgeon Bay this year, the city council is expected to enact a temporary boating ordinance during its regular meeting on Tuesday. The Department of Transportation is asking that the restricted access ordinance be put in place in the Bay of Sturgeon Bay around the bridge. There will be a 60 foot wide access for navigation within the channel at all times, however access underneath the bridge outside the access channel will be restricted while maintenance work is being performed. If approved, the temporary ordinance will be in effect for boaters from March until July 1st or upon completion of the bridge work, whichever comes first.
