The Boys and Girls Club of Door County has been awarded a sustainability grant from the Children and Youth Fund and the John and Nell Herlache Community Impact Fund administered by the Door County Community Foundation. The grant will support a partnership between the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club and My Brother’s Keeper, Incorporated, providing a male mentoring program for middle and high school age club members. The program seeks to help young males overcome obstacles and experience healthy social and civic engagement through a bi-weekly series of group forum and individual mentoring sessions at the club’s headquarters in downtown Sturgeon Bay. My Brother’s Keeper is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 by former Green Bay Packer Harry Sydney to help boys and men deal with life’s challenges. Its mission is to work as a mentoring service that offers straight talk, and, sound direction to males who need support in gaining life skills.
