A grant received by the Boys and Girls Club of Door County will help the local organization bolster the safety system at it headquarters in Sturgeon Bay. PEO, an international philanthropic organization, provided the $1,550 grant which will be used to purchase a bar code identification card system for adult staff, volunteers and visitors. The system tracks the dates of time of entry and exit, so administrative managers know at a glance who is in the Hatch Center building on 3rd avenue. Sturgeon Bay Police Chief Arleigh Porter recommended that the Boys and Girls Club implement the card reader system and Elfriede Leporte, a member of the PEO chapter in Sturgeon Bay, authored the grant request.
