Body Recovered at Whitefish Dunes State Park

Local law enforcement believes that the body that washed up near the beach of Whitefish Dunes State Park is that of a missing person who disappeared while swimming at Harrington State Park in Ozaukee County on August 19th. On Sunday, the Door County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of a body found floating in the water. Deputies were joined at the scene by a DNR warden. The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted about the recovery and authorities scheduled an autopsy with the Dane County medical examiner’s office. The Door County Sheriff’s Office says it is withholding the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
