The Door County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the body recovered in Lake Michigan, near Cave Point County Park, Wednesday afternoon is that of a Neenah man missing since February 10th. The victim was positively identified as 57-year old Eric Richter after an autopsy was conducted by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office. According to the police report, Richter was reported missing when he failed to return home after spending a day in the Jacksonport area. His last known location was Cave Point County Park. Search efforts have been on-going for the past six weeks. The Door County Sheriff’s Office has extended its gratitude to the volunteer search organization Bruce’s Legacy, the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office, DNR, and the numerous local agencies that assisted in the search efforts. In addition, the department offers condolences to the family and friends of Eric Richter during this difficult time.
