A groundbreaking ceremony for a west side housing development will be held on Friday, June 24th at the site of “The Bay Lofts” in Sturgeon Bay. The ceremony at 49 North Madison Avenue will feature brief remarks by Mayor Thad Birmingham and 5th District Alderman Jerry Stults. A reception follows. The proposed development by the Madison-based developer, The Bay Lofts, LLC, consists of 35 studio, and one, two and three bedroom market-rate apartments with in-building parking, a community room, fitness center, business center, bicycle storage, a building community rooftop terrace, and a top floor outdoor lounge. The project, which is supported by tax incremental financing provided by the City of Sturgeon Bay, also includes 2,350 square feet of available commercial space along Madison Avenue. The developer anticipates pre-leasing this fall and residences available in the spring of 2017 for the $7.7 million housing structure. The Bay Lofts, LLC is a partnership founded in 2016. Two of the six person development team, Chris Laurent and Jeff Gillis, completed the Middleton station apartments in 2015 in Middleton, Wisconsin.
