Annual Shipyard Tour to be May 2nd

The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay will present its annual Shipyard Tour in the City Saturday, May 2nd, from 9AM to 2PM. For over a century, this vital industry has been critical to Door County’s history and maritime economy. Two facilities, both located on 1st Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, will be participating on that Saturday in May. Bay Shipbuilding, and, Center Pointe Yacht Services, LLC will open their doors to the public for this annual event. Guided walking tours are offered at both locations. Tickets may be purchased at both entry gates at $12 for adults and $6 for students 11 to 17 years of age. Back by popular demand, the US Coast Guard will open up the 140-foot cutter, Mobile Bay, for free guided tours at a mooring area near Graham Park. Also available this year, by purchasing a shipyard tour ticket, participants can receive 50% off on the cost of a ticket to the Door County Maritime Museum. The ticket also includes access to the restored tug, John Purves.
