Algoma Man Rescued from Lake Michigan Rocky Shoreline Near Cave Point

There was a shoreline rescue call at Lake Michigan a short ways north of Cave Point Sunday evening. Shortly after 8:00 pm, a call came in regarding a man who had fallen off a cliff into the rocks and lake below. Sturgeon Bay Fire Chief Tim Dietman reports that they called for mutual aid from the Jacksonport Fire Department who responded with their rescue boat. Fire Chief Dietman was first on the scene…….

The 20 year-old Algoma man was able to swim onto a nearby rock where he waited until the rescue boat brought him to nearby Shauer Park. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department was there with 5 personnel and 3 vehicles. Fire Chief Dietman reports that the man had some scratches and bruises with minor injuries to his wrist and arm. The rescue operation took just under 45 minutes.
