The Algoma Visitor Center, which houses the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce, has one of the best views of Lake Michigan you can find. From the wrap around deck visitors are able to check out the lake, Crescent Beach, Algoma’s historic lighthouse, and the eastern city landscape. The chamber is hoping to give visitors an even better look by adding a coin operated telescope, which will be mounted on the northeast corner of the upper deck. The goal is to have the telescope installed and ready for the summer. The chamber is seeking donations to help get the telescope project done, anyone donating $250 or more will have their name placed on a recognition plaque at the visitor center, all donors will be listed on the chamber web site at algoma.org. Donations can be sent to or dropped off at the Visitor Center, 1226 Lake Street Algoma, WI, 54201. Checks should be made payable to the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce.
