56 Year Old Sturgeon Bay Woman Dies After Auto Collision

A Door County traffic accident report, originally indicating that one person sustained “minor” injuries, has been changed to a indicate a traffic fatality. According to the Door County Sheriff’s Office, the department was notified of the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Townline Road and Highway 42, on the border of the towns of Sevastopol and Egg Harbor, Monday at 8:14PM. The initial investigation indicated that a pickup truck was westbound on Townline Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. The pickup collided with a car driven by 56-year old Ruthann Dachelet of Sturgeon Bay and both vehicles came to rest in a field southwest of the intersection. Dachelet was transported to Door County Medical Center for treatment of suspected “minor” injuries. However, on Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office informed authorities that she had passed away. An autopsy was conducted on Thursday and the results are pending. The fatal traffic accident remains under investigation. Alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
