The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is providing a $50,000 grant to help Door County employers meet current and future demands for qualified workers. The funding is in support of the “Grow Door County Initiative,” a four-year plan focused on attracting and retaining employees. The matching great from the WEDC will help pay for the implementation of a marketing plan aimed at enhancing the county’s work force. As part of the initiative, the Door County Economic Development Corporation plans to increase its presence across multiple media, including the creation of a website that would provide individuals interested in relocating to Door County with community information on topics such as employment, housing, education and health care. The county economic development corporation also plans to work with the Door County Community Foundation to establish and maintain a local high school alumni network that will keep local graduates connected to their home community and to communicate with them about career and entrepreneurial opportunities that exist in Door County.
