The North 4th Avenue construction project in Sturgeon Bay finally got underway Monday. The initial plan was to get the project up and running on March 28th, but concern about an impending storm caused the contractor to move the starting date back to April 4th. However, the prospect of cold weather led Degroot, Incorporated of Green Bay to push the work back by another week to April 11th. This week, the asphalt, street trees and concrete will be removed and work will begin on new sewer and water mains after the temporary water services are established. It looks like the weather won’t be a factor. The forecast calls for quiet conditions with temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s throughout the week. The 4th Avenue project area encompasses the section of roadway about 500 feet north of Iowa Street to Florida Street.
