Wolves Edge Clippers in OT

Algoma beat Sturgeon Bay, 36-28, in overtime at Perry Field in Algoma on Friday Night.  The Wolves scored on their opening possession of overtime on a 4th down touchdown pass from Zach Wery to Booker Prokash and Prokash had the game ending interception on Sturgeon Bay’s ensuing possession.  Algoma (1-4, 1-5) had a 22-7 lead in the first half as Wery and Prokash connected on a pair of scoring plays and Jared Zellner added a short TD run.  Sturgeon Bay closed to within 22-14 at the break when Ethan Knipfer found Jeffrey Alberts with a 5 yard TD pass.  Sturgeon Bay (0-4, 2-5) scored back-to-back touchdowns and took the lead as Trevor Jacobson turned a middle screen into a 65 yard touchdown and Collin Mirkes found paydirt with a 2 yard run.  But the Wolves tied the game on a 64 yard Wery TD pass to Zach Schmidt.
