Kewaunee stayed undefeated as they beat Southern Door, 31-28, in a WIAA Division 5 playoff game in Kewaunee on Friday Night. The Storm (10-0) opened a 13-0 lead as Ryan Carmichael threw touchdown passes to McCoy Walechka and Alex Hewett but the Eagles (7-4) closed to within 13-7 at the half thanks to a two yard td run by Derik LeCaptain (91st of his career). Kewaunee scored early in the second half on a 46 yard scoring pass from Carmichael to Hewett but Southern Door answered with a 12 yard td run by Kyle Daoust and and 9 yard scoring pass from Daoust to Tyler Kroll to tie the game at 21-21. The Storm would regain the lead for good on a 26 yard touchdown run by Owen Kudick with 9:58 to play and Hewett added a 30 yard field goal at the 3:00 minute mark for a 31-21 advantage. The Eagles would make it interesting late as Nick Baudhuin scored from 6 yards out to make it 31-28 with 1:39 to play. Bradley Skippon would recover the onside kick for Southern Door but Max Hanrahan would be credited with a late interception as Kewaunee secured the win. The Storm will host Stratford (9-2) in a Level 3 playoff game on Friday Night (WDOR).
