Pioneers in State Championship Game

The Sevastopol football team will play Luck in the WIAA 8-Player State Championship game at Forward Field at Oriole Park in Stanley-Boyd on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers (10-1) are champions of the MONLPC-8 conference and have beaten Oakfield and Wausau Newman Catholic in the playoffs.  Sevastopol is led by quarterback Nathan Stenzel (1,434 rushing yards/22 TD, 1,119 passing yards/20 TD) Spencer Evenson, Jeremy Jorns and Ethan Kroll have combined for another 20 rushing TD’s while Alex Krause (623 receiving yards/11 TD) and Max Krohn (349 receiving yards/8 TD) are the top targets in the passing game.  Jorns, Jaden Sawyer and Peyton Hurth are the top tacklers for the Sevastopol defense while Krohn has a team high 14 sacks.  The Cardinals (11-0) are the Lakeland-8 South Conference champions and have beaten Florence and Northwood/Solon Springs in the playoffs.  Luck features the ground game on offense, led by quarterback Bennett Jenson (1,122 rushing yards/20 TD) and Dennis Brule (1,259 rushing yards/24 TD) while Levi Jenson and Dawson Van Meter are their leading tacklers.  Our coverage begins at 12:35 with Ron Frank and the Jorns Chevrolet of Kewaunee pregame show on 93.9FM / wdor.com
