A fire Sunday morning on the west side of Sturgeon Bay severely damaged a garage, its contents, a home, and a recreational vehicle. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department was paged out at 6:41AM and seven units and twenty two firefighters responded. The first units on the scene found the garage fully engulfed in flames, a nearby camper burning and flames coming through the roof of the home at 817 Kendale Court owned by James Klinger. Fire crews used 16,000 gallons of water and about two gallons of foam to knock out the fire. The three occupants in the residence escaped, but one sustained minor burns retrieving a motorcycle from the garage. An SUV was also saved. The injured party was treated at Door County Medical Center. No firefighters sustained injuries in the blaze. Listed as severely damaged in the fire was the garage, the home’s kitchen and living room and the RV, and there was smoke damage throughout the house. In addition, vehicles parked at a neighbors home sustained damage. The fire remains under investigation. No damage estimate is available. Also on the scene at the fire Sunday were units of Sturgeon Bay Police and the Door County Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Services and the Red Cross.
