The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department is often paged out to rural areas at this time of year where soggy conditions make it difficult to bring department vehicles to the fire.
If a small area is involved, firefighting can be accomplished without the large vehicles. However, larger grassfires can become a logistical nightmare when it comes down to fire crews and back packs.
