New Assistant Fire Chief Named in Sturgeon Bay

A new Assistant Fire Chief has been selected for the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department. In January, firefighter Kalin Montevideo will replace current Assistant Chief Tim Dietman, becoming the first woman in the department’s history to be promoted to the rank. Dietman moves up to Fire Chief with the retirement of Chief Tim Herlache in January. Montevideo, a Sturgeon bay native, has been a firefighter since 1999. She has been credited with playing a key role in the successful operation of the department. Kalin Montevideo is 36 and married to Door County Deputy Troy Montevideo. She was chosen for the position of Assistant Fire Chief by the Sturgeon Bay Fire and Police Commission after a thorough review of the operations, staff and management of the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department.
