The Door County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on last week’s fatal crash near Egg Harbor. At almost 9:00 pm last week Tuesday July 19th, a Dodge Ram pickup was northbound on Heritage Lake Road at high speed. About 700 feet north of County Road “E” the driver lost control, entered the west ditch, hit a large tree, started rolling over, and finally came to rest against a utility pole. At that time the truck started on fire. When the Egg Harbor Fire Department arrived the truck was fully engulfed in flames. When the fire was extinguished it was discovered that one occupant was deceased inside the truck. He has recently been identified as 37 year-old Timothy Corn of Neopit, Wisconsin, but he had been residing on nearby County Road “EE”. Another occupant in that crash was found outside the vehicle with serious injuries and he was transported by helicopter to the Aurora Baycare Medical Center in Green Bay. He has now been identified as 25 year-old Emelio Rodriguez of Shawano. No further information on this crash is available as the crash remains under investigation. It was announced last week, however, that speed and alcohol appeared to be factors in this fatal incident.
