A mobile home on County Road O is considered a total loss after a fire Thursday morning. The Southern Door Fire Department was paged out at 8:24AM and spent most of the morning at the scene. The cause is not known, but the entire home was involved when the firefighters arrived. The home is owned by Phil Weidner. He left for work at 6:30 and everything was ok, a short time later his wife was awakened by a smoke alarm and discovered smoke in the hallway. She got out and called the fire department. Five cats and dogs were inside and did not survive the fire. The Sturgeon Bay & Brussels Union Gardner Fire Departments assisted with mutual aid. The Red Cross is assisting the Weidners.
