The Luxemburg Fire Department was called to a shed fire Tuesday afternoon on Hillview Road in the Town of Luxemburg. Upon arrival crews found the metal pole building heavily involved in fire. The building was used to store hay, equipment, and a workshop, no animals were being housed in the structure. Firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire and used a backhoe to remove hay and hit hot spots. The structure and its contents were completely destroyed, but firefighters were able to save adjacent structures.
Mutual aid was provided by the New Franken, Casco, Kewaunee, Denmark, Algoma, and Carlton fire departments. Tisch Mills and Brussels Union Gardner departments stood by at the Luxemburg and Casco stations in case of a second alarm. No injuries were reported, firefighters were on the scene for five hours, Luxemburg Rescue provided rehab for the firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
