Fire Chiefs Oppose Privatizing EMS in Door County

The Door County Fire Chiefs Association has issued a statement regarding recent discussions about privatizing emergency medical services in Door County. In a news release issued Wednesday, the organization which represents ten fire departments indicated that it does not support the concept. Acknowledging that the county has the right to consider terminating the current arrangement, the news release indicates that the fire chiefs strongly believe public safety is best provided by public entities focused on customer service and ultimately answer to the public they serve. The letter goes on to say that the fire chiefs have had a long and positive partnership with Door County EMS in providing emergent care to the sick and injured across Door County and will continue to work collaboratively to maintain, deliver and improve the high level of care the public deserves.
