Door-Tran Receives Grant from Green Bay Packers Foundation

Door County’s transportation service, Door-Tran, have recently been awarded $5,000 from the Green Bay Packers Foundation in support of Door-Tran’s Veteran Volunteer Transportation Program. This Door-Tran program also received funding from the Wisconsin DOT, The United Way of Door County, and other generous donors. The Veteran Volunteer Transportation Program provides rides for veterans to VA Medical clinics. Since its inception in 2011, the program has served nearly 200 veterans and provided over 2,000 rides. This year’s Foundation grants were awarded to organizations directing funds toward elderly, homeless, human service, and hunger needs. Door-Tran Volunteer Coordinator Kim Gilson comments, “We’re preparing to get back to where we were prior to the pandemic once the VA clinics begin operating at full capacity again.”
