DNR Re-opens 34 State Parks, Admission Passes Required Again

Starting this Friday, May 1st, under the Governor’s direction, the D.N.R. Will re-open 34 state parks and forests with special conditions to minimize overcrowding and to promote social distancing. Also starting this Friday, an annual sticker and/or trail pass will be required to visit state parks and trails. Annual passes are not available for purchase at individual properties, but you can buy them with your credit card by phone. You can call toll free 1-888-305-0398 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm seven days a week. To visit state parks you must have an annual admission sticker adhered to your vehicle or proof of purchase displayed on the dash of your windshield. Also, Whitefish Dunes State Park is listed among others as a park likely to temporarily prohibit additional visitors after a pre-determined safety capacity has been met. At that point, visitors may be denied entry until existing visitors leave.
