Algoma slipped past Shiocton, 36-33, in a girls WIAA Division 4 Sectional Semi-Final at Seymour on Thursday Night. Linsey Pierre hit the game winning three pointer as time expired sending the Wolves to Saturday’s Sectional Final at Antigo. Algoma (20-4) led by a game high 13 points, 29-16, at the end of the third quarter only to see the Chiefs (14-11) go on a furious fourth quarter rally and tie the game at 31-31 with 1:22 to play. Jordan Demmin hit a pair of free throws to give Algoma the lead with 1:08 to play but Carmen McCarthy tied the game at the free throw line with 6.8 seconds to play setting the stage for the game ending heroics. Pierre finished with a game high 14 points while Madisyn Morack (12) and Tina Ubl(10) led Shiocton. Marathon beat Crandon 63-24 so the Wolves play the Red Raiders (24-1) at 1:00 Saturday in Antigo on 93.9FM / wdor.com
