Hilbert beat Gibraltar, 48-42, in a WIAA Division 5 regional championship game in Fish Creek on Saturday. The Vikings (16-7) had an early 14-7 lead only to see the Wolves (13-12) go a 10-0 run to take the lead but Sage Krause hit a three pointer for Gibraltar to tie the game at 17-17 at the half. The Vikings scored the first basket of the second half for their only lead in the final 18:00 minutes. Hilbert built a 43-31 lead before Gibraltar closed to with 46-42 with :28 seconds to play but the Wolves ran out the clock for the win. Makaylee Kuhn, a Northern Michigan recruit, scored 21 points and Laney Halbach added 12 for Hilbert while Payton Pluff finished with a game high 22 for Gibraltar.
