Algoma got off to a quick 12-0 start in the first 4 minutes and never trailed as they defeated Weyauwega-Fremont, 51-40, in a girls WIAA Division 4 sectional semi-final at Green Bay Preble on Thursday Night. The Wolves (23-2) saw a 45-28 lead in the second half be trimmed to 48-40 with less that 3:00 to play but the Indians (15-11) would get no closer than eight points down the stretch. Anna Dier led Algoma with 16 points and Baleigh Delorit added 15 while Caragan Volz and Karissa Akey scored 11 each for Weyauwega-Fremont.
Algoma will play Marathon in the Waupaca sectional final at 3:15 on Saturday, that’s after the Raiders (22-3) beat Neillsville, 56-37.
