Algoma opened the girls WIAA Division 4 regional basketball tournament with a 47-35 win at Gibraltar on Wednesday Night. The Wolves (12-9) never trailed and were led by Makayla Guilette, who finished with a game high 13 points. Hannah Wiese added 11 points while Lucy Wiese and Jordan Jossie chipped in 8 a piece and all three players hit a pair of three pointers to spark Algoma. The Vikings (15-8) closed to within 39-33 in the final five minutes but the rally fell short. Abbigael Sitte led Gibraltar with 10 points while Raina Haleen added 8 points and Sage Krause hit two three pointers. Algoma will play at top seeded Manitowoc Lutheran (17-4) on Friday Night.
