West Jacksonport beat Egg Harbor Sunday in the Door County League, 9-5. The Ports led 3-1 after the first inning and tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth and four more in the ninth. Woody Schartner had four hits and drove in two to lead West Jacksonport (10-3). Eric Bley and Drew Tanck each added two hits in the win. Schartner (9-2) went the distance for the win. Jason Fuller, Eric DeJardine and Joe Sawyer all had two hits for Egg Harbor (10-2). Sawyer homered in the loss. Dave Jilot (7-2) pitched into the sixth and took the loss.
Washington Island slipped by Maplewood, 2-1. Ray McDonald’s solo homer in the top of the ninth snapped a 1-1 tie and sent Washington Island (6-6) home with the win. Matt Grandy doubled to lead off the sixth. He would later scored on a wild pitch to give the Island a 1-0 lead. Maplewood (2-10) tied the game in the eighth when John Price scored on a Mark Villers single. Price led the Mets with two hits. Troy Jorgenson (6-4) went all nine for the win. Losing pitcher Calvin Falk (2-4) also pitched a complete game. Both pitchers allowed only four hits.
