Three teams are tied for first in the Door County League as there were just three games played this past weekend. Sister Bay won their showdown with West Jacksonport while Egg Harbor beat Baileys Harbor and Kolberg beat Maplewood in the Southern Door showdown. Here are the details:
On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Sister Bay beat West Jacksonport, 5-2. Dusty Johnson’s three-run, home run in the seventh snapped a 2-2 tie. Tom Sawyer had two hits and drove in a pair of runs in the win while Anthony Laughlin also had two hits for Sister Bay (5-1). Sam Forkert (2-0) went the distance for the win. The lefty allowed just two hits. Drew Tanck (3-2) took the loss for West Jacksonport (4-2).
Egg Harbor beat Baileys Harbor, 18-4. Egg Harbor (5-1) scored 14 unanswered runs after Baileys Harbor (0-6) had tied the game at four in the top of the fifth. Casey Giesseman hit a solo homer and Matt Ash added a three-run, home run. Ash and Nick Kita each had four hits, while Dave Jilot, added three. Kita (1-0) went the first six and picked up the win on the mound. Austin Kissel had two hits for Baileys Harbor. Kissel (0-2) took the loss.
Kolberg shutout Maplewood, 1-0. David Van Dreese doubled in the fourth and scored on Mitchel Neubauer’s single. Riley Cordier (3-1) went the first seven for the win while Van Dreese pitched the final two innings for the save. Both Cordier and Van Dreese had two hits for Kolberg (5-1). Maplewood (2-4) had just two hits. Calvin Falk (0-1) took the loss.
Washington Island at Institute was rained out Friday night. That will be made up with two games at Washington Island the last weekend in July.
