Sister Bay is perfect after four weeks of Door County League action. They remained unbeaten Sunday and in the process kept Baileys Harbor winless. West Jacksonport and Kolberg are a game back of Sister Bay after wins over Maplewood and Institute. Egg Harbor evened their record after beating Washington Island. Here’s the Door County League recap for week four:
On 910 AM WDOR and wdor.com, Egg Harbor beat Washington Island, 3-1. Egg Harbor took the lead with a run in the bottom of the seventh and then added an insurance run in the eighth. Nick Kita and Casey Giesssemann each doubled for Egg Harbor. Dave Jilot (1-1) pitched the first eight for the win and Riley Spetz worked the ninth for the save. Ray McDonald had a double for Washington Island. Matt Foss (0-1) pitched into the eighth and took the loss.
Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor, 12-0. Sister Bay scored three times in the first and led 8-0 before John Woerfel’s eighth inning grand slam. Dusty Johnson had three hits for Sister Bay. Ryan Demmin (4-0) pitched the first six innings for the win. Lucas Stephenson (0-2) took the loss for Baileys Harbor.
Kolberg beat Institute, 13-8. Kolberg scored three times in the first and never trailed. Jeff Sperber had three hits to lead Kolberg while Austin Rohe and Jesse Miller each added two. Rohe (1-1) took over for Riley Cordier in the fifth and pitched four innings for the win. Kyle Volkmann had three hits and Aaron Ash and Matt Petersilka each had two for Institute. Volkmann (1-3) pitched the first four innings and took the loss.
West Jacksonport beat Maplewood, 2-1. The Ports scored the winning run in the top of the eighth. Austin Bauldry led off with a hit and came around to score on Woody Schartner’s RBI single. Schartner had three hits for West Jacksonport. Tanner Biwer (3-0) went all nine innings for the win. Mickey Le had two hits for Maplewood. Calvin Falk (1-1) took the loss.
