Sister Bay is a perfect 5-0 as they won at Institute Sunday, 15-2. Wil Henrikson (4-0) and Andy Woerfel combined on a two hitter, both being infield hits. Henrikson pitched the first seven with Woerfel working the last two innings. Stuart Larsen hit a three-run homer in the win. Larsen, Tom Sawyer, and Tucker Emerson all had three hits for Sister Bay. Kyle Volkman took the loss for the Cubs (2-3).
Kolberg beat Baileys Harbor, 9-2. Justin Alexander (2-0) pitched the first seven for the win. Jeff Sperber had three hits and drove in three runs and Travis LeRoy had two hits and was on base five times for Kolberg (3-2). Baileys Harbor’s starter Joe Christianson ran into trouble in the second inning. Christianson (0-2) walked six, hit a batter and gave up five runs in that frame. Baileys Harbor is now 0-5.
Egg Harbor beat Maplewood, 8-2. Riley Spetz (4-0) pitched the first seven innings for the win. Spetz had four hits while Robbie Schartner and Jake Junion each added three. Junion hit a two-run homer in the fourth which gave Egg Harbor (4-1) a 6-1 lead. Mark Villers had two hits, including a solo homer, for Maplewood (1-4). Kyle Ploor (1-4) pitched into the third before being relieved by Villers.
Washington Island erupted for 26 runs and 20 hits as they beat West Jacksonport, 26-10. The Islanders scored 10 times in the first but saw the Ports tied the game in the third. Washington Island (3-2) would then score 16 unanswered runs. The game featured eight home runs, seven of which were hit by Washington Island. Aaron Delorit and Craig Gunnlaugsson each hit two, Troy Jorgenson, Matt Foss and Caleb Cornell also homered. Cornell had four hits, drove in four and scored six times. Troy Jorgenson (1-1) picked up the win in relief. Steve Jilot had three hits, including a three-run homer for the Ports (2-3). Woody Schartner (1-2) took the loss on the mound.
