Week Eight In The Door County League

Storms that rolled through Northeast Wisconsin early Sunday left two Door County League fields unplayable.  Two DCL games were able to be played as Egg Harbor beat Maplewood and Washington Island upset West Jacksonport.  Here are the details:

On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Egg Harbor beat Maplewood, 3-1.  Down 1-0, Egg Harbor scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and then added an insurance run in the sixth.  Maplewood threatened in their final three at bats but never scored.  Matt Ash had three hits and reached base four times for Egg Harbor (7-1).  Dave Jilot had two hits.  Jilot (2-1) pitched the first seven innings for the win.  Riley Spetz worked the final two for his third save.  Kyle Ploor (1-5) took the loss for Maplewood (2-6).

Washington Island beat West Jacksonport, 11-10.  The Islanders won the game on a Matt Foss sacrifice fly in the 12th.  West Jackonsport (5-3) led 8-1 after five innings, but Washington Island (2-5) tied the game with seven runs in the sixth.  Both teams scored twice in the tenth.  Troy Jorgenson (1-0) picked up the win in relief.  Jorgenson, Caleb Cornell and Ray McDonald all had three hits.  McDonald hit a three-run homer.  Matt Foss and Ben Geiger had two hits.  Jason Lindemann had three hits to lead West Jacksonport.  Eric Bley, Drew Tanck, Sawyer Johnson, Jerad Lindemann and Tanner Biwer all had two hits.  Griffen Cole (0-1) took the loss.
