Two Tied Atop The DCL

West Jacksonport slipped by Kolberg Sunday in the Door County League, Sister Bay beat Maplewood and Egg Harbor beat Institute.  That left Egg Harbor and Sister Bay tied for first in the Door County League.  Also Sunday, Washington Island picked up their first win of the season by pounding Baileys Harbor.  Here are the details:

On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Sister Bay beat Maplewood, 5-1.  Sister Bay had a 3-1 lead after three innings and then tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh.  Matt Hecht homered for Sister Bay (6-1), while Tom Sawyer, Stuart Larsen and Sam Forkert all had two hits.  Forkert (3-0) pitched the first six innings for the win.  Al Karas had two hits for Maplewood (2-5).  Kyle Ploor (1-4) took the loss.

West Jacksonport beat Kolberg, 1-0.  Griffen Cole had two hits for West Jacksonport (5-2) and drove in the only run of the game in the third.  Winning pitcher Drew Tanck (4-1) did not allow a hit until there were two outs in the sixth.  With two on in the ninth, Woody Schartner got a double play to end the game and pick up the save.  Riley Cordier (2-2) took the loss for Kolberg (5-2).

Egg Harbor beat Institute, 7-2.  Egg Harbor (6-1) scored three runs in the first and added three more in the second.  Cody Giesseman had two hits and drove in four runs.  Dave Jilot (1-1) pitched the first five for the win and Riley Spetz finished for the save.  Aaron Larsen and Kyle Volkmann each had two hits for Institute (2-4).  Volkmann (1-4) took the loss.

Washington Island beat Baileys Harbor, 28-4.  Washington Island (1-5) scored five in the first on their way to their first win of the season.  Ben Geiger had four hits and drove in six runs.  One of Geiger’s hits was his first DCL home run.  Matt Foss had three hits and Troy Jorgenson drove in five runs.  Ray McDonald and Ben Johnson each had two hits in the win.  Wil Henricksen (1-2) pitched six innings for the win.  Kyle Keehan, Derek Niedzwiecki and Nelson Wagner all had two hits for Baileys Harbor (0-7).  Amadee Savard (0-2) took the loss.
