Ahnapee won the first game of a doubleheader with Kewaunee County to win the Fox River Valley East Division title on Wednesday Night at Casco Village Park.
The Trailblazers (18-5) earned a 2-1 victory when Zach Marchant was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning. The Lakers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning when Mason Isenberg’s RBI double scored Anthony Otrodovec but Ahnapee tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Kordell Draves singled home Anthony Moore. Mitchel Neubauer went all ten innings for the win and escaped a second and third with nobody out jam in the top of the eighth inning when right fielder Austin Lardinois made a game saving catch. Anthony Moore and Austen Dart had two hits for the Trailblazers while Otradovec had three hits for the Lakers and Nathan Giachino took the loss despite allowing only two runs in 9.2 innings.
The Lakers (19-3) took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two out bases clearing double by Bryce Tekulve. Will Derenne had two hits and three RBI’s for Kewaunee County while Mitch Jandrin, Noah Lindsley added two hits each and Tekulve went the distance for the win. Kordell Draves led Ahnapee with four hits and two RBI’s while Anthony Moore had three hits and Austen Dart had two hits while Austin Lardinois also drove in a pair. Trevor Hawkey struck out seven in the loss.
